Un-Jailbreak 3g

Hey guys, I was wondering.. what is the best way to go about un-jailbreaking my 3g so when 3.0 comes out I can install it through itunes no problem? I realize you can restore the phone and set it up as a new phone but I would like to salvage my text messages, settings, apps and contacts. I did a search but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. Thanks guys.

Back it up, restore it and then put the data back. It's that simple.
