PROBLEM SOLVED - THANKS FOR BEING THERE FOLKS!!
Hi All,
I have an iPhone 4S that is about 2months old and has never been jailbroken or hacked on which I have a loop that I can't break out of.
It started as I left the phone hooked up to iTunes and running a software update. When I left it for a while my dearly beloved unplugged it and it now seems to be stuck in a loop for which I can't find a solution.
When turned on or rebooted it shows the iTunes and usb images and stays that way. iTunes sees the phone (Windows explorer doesn't see it though!) and says "phone in recovery mode - you must restore the phone.." I try to run a restore which gives me a message "Restore and update - data will be lost" to which I click yes.
iTunes appears to extract the "new software", then "verifying iTunes", "preparing phone", "verifying software restore", "restoring iPhone firmware" before it gives another message about halfway through the restore, "iPhone could not be restored... error 14".
I have tried a variety of suggestions, including running it through a DFU mode but none seem to give me a solution (although the DFU process got my hopes up as it took longer and went through some device driver reinstall stages!).
iTunes doesn't give me the software version and I don't have other info such as baseband and other technical data - all I can say is it's a bog standard iPhone 4S running standard software on the O2 carrier.
Can anyone help me? I'd rather not lose all the data (a lot of recent pix) on the phone unless I have no other choice.
Cheers, Mark
(btw I have tried two different iPhone cables and numerous usb ports including on the computer itself.)
GODAMMIT!! I JUST RAN RESTORE FOR THE 7TH TIME AND IT ALL WORKED!!!!!
