Alright -- I figured I'd give my battery the go round today with my daily usage

3G on all day, signal in the office
location services off (except for when I used them (about 5 minutes total)
Checked facebook several times during the day
Listened to music probably a total of 4 hours of the day - on and off, shuffled
Played MotionX Poker for about 15 minutes (with sound, no vibrate)
Three phone calls (while on 3G)
Brightness set WAAAAY down (its still pretty bright, and I can read the screen in BRIGHT sun)

Took the phone off the charger @ 745am

Battery life as of now:

Good new to those "must last me throughout the day" folks!

I took my iPhone off of a full charge at 0700 this morning and I am still to see the 20% warning. I am trying to run the battery down as I type here so that I can give it a full charge.

SO far today....
3G on all day
A fair amount of browsing of threads on here
Checked a few other websites
Checked my emails
Wrote a couple of emails
Listened to some music
Played around with the GPS in maps

It's currently 10.30pm here in the UK.

I purposely ran mine down all the way so I could do a full charge too.

It lasted 4.5 hours, but I used it pretty heavily on 3G with twitter, facebook, and other sites. I also left on all functions: location svcs, network prompts, wifi, 3G, etc.

I listened to music for about 45 mins and talked on it about 20 mins.

I think I got the avg. of what you should expect under that usage.

Tomorrow I'm going to run it with PUSH turned off and see how much it changes. I don't really need PUSH, so I'll just experiment.

I just did the run down experiment but decided to play with settings. So here were my rules:

location services off unless I was using it
when not at home - 3g on, wifi off
when at home - wifi on, 3g off (Edge is better in my apartment anyway)
2 minute shut off timer
medium brightness
no push, manual fetch (I'm just grabbing gmail so there's no push needed)
I only plugged it in to sync and then unplugged it (so.. maybe 3 - 5 minutes total?)

I got 2 days 15 hours of "standby" with 6 hours, 9 minutes of "usage". It was mixed games, ipod, talk and web.

I'd love to be able to set some of these automatically (like auto off the gps) but until they come out with software that will do that, it's not that big of a deal.

I have no complaints about the battery and don't feel like I am doing too much futzing around to get it.
