Hey fam,
Friend of mine recently purchased a surplus macbook pro from a company where his wife works at. It's still got all the software and settings it had when it was a company computer (antivirus, office, blah blah blah). He can't access certain websites, like gmail or youtube. He asked if I could figure out how to fix it, as he isn't the most computer savvy guy out there. Neither am I, to be honest. I just know where to seek help
so here I am...
Any ideas on what I can do to try and fix this problem? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to a lot of this stuff, and some preliminary Google searches didn't lend me to an easy answer. I'd like to start with the simplest solutions and gradually move up to the final solution of reformatting and reinstalling OS X if this is something beyond my abilities to fix. He already gave me the green light to do that, if necessary.
I'm gonna see him later today around 5. The first thing I'm going to check is all the setting in his anti-virus software, to see if there's an option to block certain websites. Then I'm gonna... reset Safari? I really don't know where to go from there... hahaha. You can tell I need help...
Anyway, any help from minds much more knowledgable than mine would be greatly appreciated. I don't have the computer in front of me just yet, but if ya'll give me some suggestions I'll see what I can do when I see him later today around 5.
EDIT: I probably should have added that he believes he can't access these websites because of some restriction that his wife's company had put on it. Kinda makes sense to me.
