I purchased an iPhone 4 for my sister about 2 weeks ago under her old number. Recently she changed her number as she was receiving text messages from different phone numbers. Now when we try to Activate her phone number, it's coming up incorrectly and won't let us Activate her phone using a different phone number. Any suggestions?

Thanking you all in advance

Am I understanding correctly?
  1. the iPhone was purchased but has never been activated
  2. sister is using a different phone and has phone # changed since the iPhone has arrived
If this is the case, the micro-sim on the iPhone will have been provisioned to her original phone #. Talk to your carrier as I believe you'll need a new micro-sim provisioned to her current phone #. Alternatively, you can also cut down her current sim to make it into a micro-sim and activate the phone with that. I don't know what carrier you're with so don't know if continuing to use that cut sim is a long term solution, she still might need to get the iPhone sim swapped.
