Updated to MacOS Monterrey and updated the Ipad 12.9 to the latest iOS. However, in System Preferences> Display, when I click add display the Ipad does not appear for me to use it as monitor.

I have rebooted both devices, turned off/on bluetooth on both machines and the Ipad will not show up. When I click on the top right corner control center icon, the add a display button is no longer there either.

Have you tried to move your mouse over to the top right of the Display panel bar you show here? Just under Screen Mirroring?

Yeah for screen mirroring it showed up but not for add a display. I think I found what the issue was. I currently have two MacBook pros (the new 14' and MBP 13). I am guessing the add a display works for 1 MacBook a time, even though I wasn't actively using it on the other MacBook laptop.

I just deleted and signed out my MBP 14 from my iCloud because I will be returning it. After doing that, the iPad came up as a display option again for my MBP 13 (original problem).

Didn't like the 14"?

Had it since launch day, used it, liked it and was leaning towards keeping it. I then opened my MBP 13 (2020 i5/16gb/512GB) 2 days ago and I used it for a bit again. I then came to the conclusion that there wasn't really any major differences for my usage. The fact that I was spending 1k after selling my current MBP was not really worth it. I will wait for the new MBA and go for that. That should be out in about 4-5 months for less the money.

Interesting. I'm kind of in the same boat but I thought the new MBP screens would be such a big difference you wouldn't want to go back to a non minLED/ProMotion display...

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice screen but there is not a huge difference. Like the MBP 13 screen is fine the way it is. So far I haven’t missed the pro motion. I noticed the 120hz more on my phone then the laptop.
