unable to add misspelled words in word '04

hi all,

i can't seem to customize spell check in word '04. it just simply won't allow me to click add in the menu (see attached pic). i've tried repairing permissions but it didn't make any difference. i've also made sure that i have the permission read and write to the microsoft office 2004 folder (including the files in the proofing tools folder).

any insight will be appreciated. TIA.
