Unable to back up to iCloud over WiFi

Having a strange issue. I have been unable to back up to iCloud over WiFi. Keeps on claiming it fails due to poor network connection. Happening on both my iPad Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. I can back it up manually if using the cellular network on my iPhone. I tried hotspotting my iPad to the iPhone's cell data and it doesn't work.

I have reset network settings on both still not doing anything.

Both running 16.5.

Suggestions?

Have you tried restarting your wireless router and modem and trying again?

Are you running separate 2.4 and 5ghz SSIDs?

Have tried resetting them. No avail. Figure the ipad not doing the backup using the iPhone's cell connection ruled out the home network.

Not sure about the SSID's.

Could be an issue in apples end, currently on hold with them right now because my find my isn't working and my photos aren't syncing. They said my account is currently under maintanence and they have no idea why, so now its off to their engineering team to look into it but for now I dont have access, I can't even turn off find my, it gives an error lol

I think it is on my end. I got my iPhone to eventually download the update over Wi-Fi. Which somehow now let me do iCloud backup over WiFi. But the iPad doesn’t think it is connected to WiFi despite able to find that there is an update available.

EDIT:iPhone back to not doing backup over wifi after update complete.

I am having the same issue with my iPads and iPhone. It started sometime in July and the error message states it cannot do the backup due to poor wifi connection.
