I have had awful problems with my new mac mini received 7 days ago.
At the start my bt keyboard took a while to make work. After making it work I found it wouldn't work at the log in screen after booting. Once logged in, it would work fine. I tried all sorts of terminal trickery to make it work to no avail.
I then tried a reinstall with my trusty usb installer. (10.14.1) Holding the option key whilst booting would work but clicking on the mojave installer always pushed me to the spinning globe internet downloaded. This is a problem due to the speed of my internet. I tried multiple sticks with (10.14.2) and a hard drive and nothing would work.
Eventually I got it working after a day of waiting to download. The keyboard worked but not perfectly. The system keeps forgetting it is an ISO keyboard. I put my user on an external drive and promptly got locked out when I encrypted it??? Shouldn't the keychain unlock it for me if I try and login. Obviously not. This resulted in weirdness after waiting overnight to decrypt the drive. Any data I put on the Documents/Desktop etc on the internal drive went to the internal drive. After deleting and recreating Users on the internal drive I am left with 100GB of orphaned data. Drive checks show ok.
So I am left to reinstall from scratch again. This time I made sure all security re booting from external drives and trusting OS's was turned off. I still can't boot from my USB sticks.
Has anyone been able to install from a usb stick? Is my mini 2018 not working or am I just at a point in life where apple stuff sucks and I move to windows. My brother has been developing on his for a year without reinstalling. Quite frankly I've had considerably easier install experiences with Hackintosh boxes.
