I am having trouble burning discs as well with the error: "The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)." Has anyone been able to rectify this?

If you're getting this problem, most of the time it means that you need to replace the optical drive. If you have AppleCare, take the machine into an Apple Store or another Apple Authorized Service Provider and have them replace it for you free of charge. Otherwise, if the machine's out of warranty, I would buy an external drive since it'll cost 250+ to replace the internal drive, depending on what machine you have.

I had this problem with our old G5...and i seem to recall it was a cock up with toast.

I can't remember how i fixed it though...i either nuked and paved, or delete some pref lists.
