iPod Unable to change order on shuffle

I formatted and I am putting the music back on my shuffle and have created a list however, it wont let me put the songs in what order I want? As in it wont let me change the song order

Did you create a playlist or a smart playlist? ...You can't change the order of smart playlists.

Oh, by "list" I assumed you meant a playlist.

Do you have shuffle enabled in iTunes? If so, turn it off.

This may sem like a silly question but how do I turn it off? I do have replace all items when autofilling unticked

Just make sure that the shuffle button isn't switch on (i.e. not blue).

Nope its not in blue dont know whats up

If you have any of the column headers sorted other then the numbered one on the left then you can't change the order. The numbered column represents the the order in which items have been dropped into the shuffle.
