Hi all -

I've recently bought a shiny new MacBook Pro -

-model - MacBookPro 8.2
-processor name IntelCore i7

and am trying to connect it to my monitor -

-NEC
-MultiSyncP221W

using a DVI cable and overpriced apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. When i make the connection and select the Input from the monitor menu - I just have a black screen. I've installed a handy little mac app called gfxCardStatus in order to experiment with Discrete only and Integrated only modes but no success.

Any clues or suggestions greatly appreciated! -

I had the same problem - try using SwitchResX control panel/pref pane software.
Although the EDID on the P221w says one thing I suspect a batch may be wrong.
I had to set a custom res up with SwitchResX using the following and it worked for me.
1680 x 1050
119.04Hz
0 0
152 6
152 8
304 14
1984 1064
60Hz 56.391 Hz
Pos and Neg sync boxes ticked. No interlace.
