I have a bunch of Raspberry Pies. On all of them I've enabled SMB file sharing. It works fine. I can mount the shares on my Mac (M2 MBA on Tahoe) with no problems.

Except, today I set up a new Pi with setting identical to all the other Pies. Unfortunately, I can't connect to it with my Mac. As soon as I enter the user's password, the dialog box gives a vigorous shake and that's all she wrote. No connection.

I know the password is correct because:

  • I use the same password on every Pi
  • I changed the password just in case I was getting it wrong. Still doesn't work.
Here's the share from /etc/samba/smb.conf

Code:
[piprinthome]
   comment= Pi Print Home
   path=/home/pi
   browseable=Yes
   writeable=Yes

Pretty much the same as on every other Pi.

So, what's going on here?
