Unable to copy text in email

i tried on both my 7+ and 9.7 iPad. I select all the text in an email and try to long press or force touch to get the copy command and it deselect the text and I have to deselect it. What is the correct way of doing this?

You dont force press for copy. just tap and hold without pressing hard.
