Unable to Correct Calendar App's Time Zone

I can't correct the Time Zone in my Calendar app. I am trying to switch it back to Eastern Time but it keeps reverting to UTC in the drop menu and when I create a new or update an existing event.

I check the Date and Time in the System Preferences and it is correct. So why is the Calendar app behaving this way?
