Unable to desktop files on Finder

Hi all, after updating to mavericks I am unable to files from the desktop through finder. There is an empty circle next to the files

Am I missing something?

I've actually run into the same issue.

The files on the desktop are accessible on the desktop itself and through applications but not using the finder.

The first time this happened I assumed it was a permissions issue but that didn't fix it.

Fixed:

Change your view options.

Change "Arrange by > none" to anything else.

That seems to have fixed it for me.
