I checked my monitor, it has the lightning bolt symbol on the plug, along with the deprecated magsafe charging pigtail. 2 questions I can't find answers to, since I am guessing that not many people are carting around the 27" Thunderbolt display to hook to their M2.

1. Will the ethernet, USB, and other thunderbolt 2 port pass the data through to the M2 via the TB 2 → 3 Adapter? I use a wired mouse and keyboard, this is critical

2. Is there a way to use the magsafe pigtail off the monitor for POWER? This thing (and I even have the adapter.

If the answers are "no" or "not really" then I suppose my next thread will be about 4k monitors with lots of ports that work well with the MBAm2.

On your final question… I got one of these to work with the M2 2022 MBA and its USB-C hub works great to both charge the Mac and provide data/accessory ports etc. (USB not TB)

Oh wait - are you saying that plugging the M2A into a modern monitor with the USB-C it will power it and also act as the video/hub/data cable? I never thought of that, I am coming from almost a decade of having an iMac and Thunderbolt displays, I have only recently purchase an LG 32" similar to what you linked where I have it plugged into the Mac Studio over USB-C, but the Mac Studio obviously has its own heft power plug.

Seems like finally ditching the Thunderbolt 27" non-retina and doing something like you link is a much better plan, I didn't know you could power the M2A and also use it as a data cable for the hub features.

Thanks!

Yes one single USB-C cable does the job for charging and data. SImples. Other monitors are available - I just got that one as it was exactly what I needed and a great deal in costco.
