Hi Everyone!

I’m having hard times with this Security Update. MacPro5,1 running Mojave 10.14.6, with a Metal (but non-boot-screen capable) graphics card - the update runs but then the machine just hangs after the reboot.

I’ve tried running the Security Update from System Preferences as well as from the standalone installer, and thinking I may just install the supplemental update and Safari 14.0.3 and leave the security update out of it - although I really don’t want to.

Any other suggestions?

Howdy LaBana!

Try using Howard Oakley's updater, Silent Knight. You might have to do it a couple of times to work. Or it might not work at all, but it's worth trying. https://eclecticlight.co/lockrattler-systhist/

Also, maybe first safe boot (startup by holding down the shift key at the start tone until the apple symbol appears, then let go of the shift key). It will start without any extras running, just the system items.

also check out https://www.tardisk.com/pages/how-to-check-your-firmware-version in case they have a solution.

Good luck. Let us know if any of these help (or not) so others can know too. :)
