Dear macrumors comunity

I just got offered an iPad today. It's on 4.2, iTunes version 10.1 and I have a Mac.

Tried both Limera1n and Greenpois0n, and both are unable to jailbreak it. With Greenpois0n I get a failed :( message and limera1n gives me a sucess message but I don't get the limera1n icon, even after a restart.

i've jailbroken many iphones before, it's killing me that I can't pull this off

Am I over looking something?

Thanks!

I was fearing that awnser because with Redsn0w I'd have to download the firmware right? I'm with a crappy internet connection for a few days, I don't think that would be possible. I guess I'll have to wait then. Thank you!

I had a similar problem, restoring as new then doing limerain fixed it for me.

Edit my problem was under 3.1.3...

that is because none of the tools can jailbreak 4.2.1. the only way to Jailbreak 4.2.1 right now is redsn0w and it is a tethered Jailbreak.

depending on "where you got it from" you can check if that ipad got SHSHs saved for 3.2.2, downgrade to it and Jailbreka using Limera1n or GP. If not SHSHs are available, them your only option is to JB using redsnow or wait for the untethered jailbreak

Correct, with redsn0w you have to point it to the current firmware on the iDevice.

How do I do that? This is killing me knowing there's a way and I can't figure it out!! I've downloaded from redsnow, but lost from there. Help please!!
