I have a strange problem with my MBA 2013. The system just doesn't recognize mouse clicks any more, but the mouse cursor moves without any problems. The issue seems to be software related, as the same happens if I use an external mouse.

What I tried so far:
* SMC reset
* PRAM reset
* reinstalled the OS
* upgraded to Catalina
* Disk utilities / first aid

Unfortunately the problem persists. Any ideas ?

There is a chance your battery has bloated. I'd remove your bottom case as soon as possible to inspect it as it could destry your keyboard/trackpad.

Thank you for your reply. I read about bloating batteries and non-working trackpads, but in my case it‘s unlikely a hardware problem, as even an external mouse shows the same behaviour. I will check for a bloated battery, though.
