Can anyone please advise?

I was logged in, for ATV+, but had to change my password, now I can't log back in.

I don't need photos or any of the other iCloud stuff, I just need to watch my ATV+ content.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

How did you change your iCloud Password? I as because you should changed through the Web site [urlhttps://appleid.apple.com/]Manage Your Apple ID[/url] or another way?

There are a couple threads about this, here is one of them. According to more than one user who contacted Apple, the AppleTV3 is no longer supported. Other people reported the same issue as you, everything was working until they had to login again, and then they couldn't. Unfortunately, you may be out of luck here, but you might contact Apple and see what they say.

There is a fix somewhere on the internet. If you look around. I can’t remember exactly what it is but I picked up an Apple TV 3 in 2021 and had the same issues. I found a fix on the internet and I got signed in for the few months I used it. I don’t have it any longer.

I would not assume that "fix" still works just because it worked in 2021. Read the thread I linked to, there's also a newer thread that is basically the same. People are saying that something changed within the last few months and the old "fixes" no longer work.

I had two Apple TV3's but replaced them in 2020 because I wanted to use the Sling app and it wasn't supported. Still using my two Apple TV4's and they are fine for my needs, but I fully expect they will soon suffer the same fate with Apple dropping support. :(

That’s a good point about the old fixes no longer working. I have one Apple TV HD left to replace. The others are all 4K versions. It does work well enough but I think Apple will drop support for it with the next update so I need to replace it before September.

Oh, I think it will be supported for a few more years, Apple has a policy of supporting devices for 4 or 5 years after discontinuation. But, even if they don't go that long, the ATV4 was just discontinued in October 2022 - 6 months ago. Surely we can expect another couple years of basic support for things like logging into iCloud and watching movies we've purchased.

Of course, I suppose it's up to the developers as to how long they will support it with their apps, but that's another matter.

On older devices that can't do the 2-Factor Authentication prompt, it should tell your newer devices to type in your password, followed by the 6 digit 2FA code for the password on the Apple TV. So, it would be "password1xyz482953". Have you tried that yet? I am still able to log into iCloud devices on iOS 5 using this method, so it should work on that Apple TV. Whether TV+ still works, that I'm not sure of.

Ah that’s the hack that I used. You’ve just reminded me of it.

OK, I found the other thread and that "hack" is specifically discussed. @ThunderSkunk says it no longer works.

...my iCloud sign-in is dead now too, and the advice to put your “access code” in the password to make up for Apples badly coded 2 Factor Auth doesn’t work bc I’d need to go back in time to do it.
