Unable to login after forced restart

I had to force restart my computer (2008 iMac) and now at the login screen where it used to have two logins (mine and guest account) it now has just a username/password prompt. I used to be able to click my name and enter my password now that doesn't even show up. Even if I try to enter my username and password it doesn't work.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Edit: I am using OSX 10.6, Instead of my name showing up, it says 'other' and goes to a username/password prompt
