I have a Minimate external hard disk that is failing on me in some fashion. It's about four years old since I bought it about when the Mac line went to Intel. It had been working fine until recently, when I noticed it was powered on but not mounted on the desktop.
I have tried plugging it directly into the MacBook Pro's USB port instead of the fan/hub unit. That didn't work, so I tried a FireWire cable. That didn't work, either. The HDD doesn't sound like it's having any problems.
I tried using Disk Utility's repair disk, but it said there weren't any problems. I tried mounting it in Disk Utility, but still no result.
I had a little trouble with a similar drive on my dad's iMac, but I was only using it for Time Machine backups. I have some stuff on here that isn't backed up. It's nothing like tax data, but I really don't want to lose it. If anybody has any solution ideas, that would be awesome.
