Unable to open kindle attachments through mail?

Hello,
I have been trying to email myself several kindle books to open in my kindle app. I receive them on my iPad, however when I try to click the attachment file in the email, it just says cannot open this attachment. I have done this before with other books and it worked fine. It is just recently that I cannot open any mobi files. The files are a little bigger, does it take time for them to load? Anyone have any ideas on why this may have changed?

I have done this before with other books and it worked fine.

Have you done this before with .Mobi books on your iPad and have them open in the Kindle App? I didn't think this would work.

It does work if you email .PDFs or .ePubs to your iPad - these open either in the mail app or in iBooks.

With .mobi files, your easiest option is to connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes and drag the .mobi files into the Kindle app inside iTunes.
