Hi all, not sure if this is the correct forum, but I didnt see a networking one so here goes.

I am having trouble pulling an image off our network onto machines in
our lab. The lab contains old imacs running 10.4.

Before upgrading to 10.4 I would use a set of boot cds i created using
BootCD to load netrestore and pull the image off the network share
using
Code:
afp://username@10.9.1.3/images/imagename.dmg
That way I could do
multiple machines at once (as opposed to taking the firewire drive
around to each box).

However this method does not work for 10.4 as Mr. Bombich stopped
updating BootCD software. I have been trying to figure out a way to
image the labs similar to what I was doing prior. I thought about
hacking the boot cd, as i read it is possible to do this and run
diskutility to pull an image but most the imacs dont have dvd drives
(which also rules out CloneX software) The admin says we are unable to
netboot, as our network is static and the admin wont change to dhcp
until we get new equipment. What I am attempting is to boot up to the
bootcd and run

Code:
asr -source afp://username:passw...@10.9.1.3/images/imagename.dmg -
target /Volumes/Untitled -erase
When i do that it validates the target but then cannot validate the
source - not recoginzed.

Could it be some permissions issue on the server? Also would it
matter that the bootcd is based on 10.3.9? Is it true that we cannot
netboot in a static environment? Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks in advance all.
