Unable to reply via eBay iPhone app

I'm trying to reply to a message on the iPhone app but I just can't figure out how. The reply button is inactive and when I hit the persons username all I get is selling/buying history. I did send a private message and it wasn't anything I was selling or bidding on. Can someone help me out?
 
so can someone tell me if they can send messages to other ebay members through the iphone app?
