The screen on a MacBook Air 13" 2020 fails to load. Connected it to an external monitor. The login window loads correctly. Lost the password and am trying to reset it with my Apple ID, which requires an internet connection. On the login screen there is a WiFi icon that is greyed out. Connected the MacBook to an Ethernet cable. Unable to connect to internet in order to reset by password. Any suggestions on how to reset my password would be greatly appreciated. Stuck on the login screen . TIA

Thanks for the reply. The screen on the MacBook is black with a wide blue vertical stripe. As I can boot into an external monitor, that indicates to me that there is nothing wrong with the GPU and the problem is with the screen. No physical damage.

Don't understand why the MacBook fails to connect to internet with an Ethernet connection
