Since macOS 13.4 was released, I'm no longer able to select the option to randomly cycle through a folder of pictures for my Desktop Background. I have a folder in the Photos App I use for this, and although I'm able to still select the folder and select the option to Auto-Rotate through all of the pictures within, notice when I select the “Randomly” checkbox, it changes to the Default Dark Mode Wallpaper.

I've submitted FB12202204 for this, in case it's happening to anyone else...

Also, if anyone does see this and also uses a Photos App folder for Desktop backgrounds, and sets it to Randomly change, I'm curious how many photos is too many, if its possible to bork the whole process by simply having too many pictures in a folder.

After a few weeks of trying to figure this out, I've found that I'm unable to utilize the "Random" option for Photos if they're from a folder in the Photos App. If I point to a local folder full of pictures, it works as expected.

Have you had any more luck with this? I'm having the same problem both on my iMac Pro and my M1 MacBook Pro. I thought for a while it was happening on my MBP because I didn't have local copies of the photos in the Photos app, so I downloaded them all (50,000 plus photos), and thought that worked for a bit but evidently it wasn't the problem as it's still occurring.

No! Still an issue 😤😓 I’ve even reinstalled Sonoma and am seeing no change. I’m also on an M1 MBP
