I bought Corel Painter Essentials 4 and, after installing, found that the app would not open on my PowerBook G4 (Leopard).

As I thought the problem might be the file, I downloaded the trial version of the software from Corel's website. No luck.

I also tried downloading the trial version of Painter X. No luck.

I've talked to Corel support and found them unhelpful, and I've decided I won't be able to run Painter on my system...

I had a rather random problem with some corel products which was exhibit a similar result.

The solution add a printer (doesn't even have to be a real one I just used a random IP printer) and then the program was fine. Of course if you already have a printer installed this is useless.

The first reply I got from Corel tech support was useless: instructions on how to uninstall the app on Windows PC's! (Huh?) This despite the fact that I'd given them detailed info about the system I was using.

Subsequent tips have been similarly useless, and made me doubt they were really reading my emails. I actually began to doubt I was corresponding with humans!

How old is Painter Essentials 4? (You should get Painter X, its amazing! Especially combined with the 6D art pen from Wacom :) Do you get an error when trying to open it?

I bought Painter Essentials 4 last week.

As I said, I've tried installing Painter X and it JUST WON'T OPEN! It shows the opening screen, then quits back to the Desktop.

I have a new Wacom Intuos and I was planning to get a 6D art pen.

painter x quits on opening

after numerous conversations with corel nothing worked and they dont reply to my emails anymore. painter x quits on opening when its stating up the opening screen - plugins etc and it gets to 'tracker settings' and then that it! it quits at the same point everytime.

mac 1.8 dual 3g ram leopard 10.5.2

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

I have read this thread, because I recently purchased a Macbook Pro, and wanted to install Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, as an external editing program to Aperture that I normally use. Is there anyone out there with advise on how I can even try to do this. I have read the postings up until now, and it sounds like this may not work, but I am not very well versed in computer operating systems, and what software should be compatible with what systems. I am only running OS. Do I need to run a windows based operating system to even try this. Will installing a printer help with my situration? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

power PC dual 2,7 G5 Painter not running

:(
Hi,

I have the same problem. I tried the trial of Painter X and it quit just after welcom screen.
Painter X is a 2006 software, they didn't care about Mac OSX evolution…
Painter IX was working but not on last releases of leopard.

Really not understandable, most of graphic designer were or are still 100% Mac:mad::rolleyes:

I'm shure they're will be soon a software like painter for :apple:
