I use my Macbook Pro running Yosemite to control my Mac Mini running Mavericks 99% of the time using screen sharing. Suddenly, it seems I have lost the ability to do this. It tries for several minutes then says "Connection failed Check your blah blah blah." I can still see all the files on the Mac Mini from Finder.

First, I tried making sure screen sharing was turned on. I also tried rebooting, turning sharing off, then on, then off then on again. I tried using screen sharing then tried using remote management. Nothing seemed to work.

I tried updating to the latest version of Mavericks. Nothing changed.

I tried to screen share from an old installation I had of Mavericks on my Macbook Pro (thinking it was a Yosemite problem). No go.

I tried using the 5GHz band on my Airport Extreme.

I tried changing the name of the Mac Mini.

I'm at a loss here. Don't want to update to Yosemite on my Mac Mini because Mavericks was working fine, but I don't know what else to try.

Using Finder, I can connect to my Mac Mini just fine, but when I hit the screen sharing button, it always times out.

Any other ideas?
