I recently noticed that I Spotlight doesn't allow me to search for anything for a few minutes after booting the machine and login. I will type something in, but nothing is returned. If I want 10 or so minutes (haven't timed it), then results start to show up. At first I thought it was because Spotlight was re-indexing, but that doesnt seem to be the case. Is this normal behavior or is there something screwy with my Spotlight database?

You can tell if Spotlight is indexing by the Menu Bar icon:
attachment.php
(not indexing)
attachment.php
(indexing)

If you're not getting any search results, you could try forcing a re-index of your drive.

Not getting search results isn't the problem. The problem is I'm not getting search results within the first 10 or so minutes after booting and logging into my account. Re-indexing would only fix the problem if I couldn't search for anything at all.
