I noticed Hey Siri wasn't working, so I tried to turn it off and turn it back on. Now I can't get it to detect my voice at all. There's no movement in the audio line (I don't know the technical term sorry). I initially thought it was the microphone. But I'm not too sure.

  • When I enable Siri with the side button and say a command, i get no movement from the line (or sometimes it detects the last word in my sentence)
  • When I enable Siri with the side button and say "Hey Siri," then the command, I get movement from the line and it works fine.
  • Speaker works fine on FaceTime
  • Speaker works fine when using Speakerphone
  • Speaker works fine when recording video using the front or the back camera
I also noticed I'm unable to send voice messages through iMessage unless I hold the phone up to my ear. If I hold the button down while I have iMessage open, same thing.

Here's the troubleshooting I did:
  • Rebooted
  • Turned off Siri, rebooted the phone and turned Siri back on
  • Turned it off in Accessibility and turned it back on.
  • Did a restore (restored my data from my backup)
I called Apple Support and they weren't much help (the tech tried to convince me that Siri was working as intended).

I'm about to do another restore and set it up as a fresh phone to see if maybe it's something in my backup that's messed up. If that doesn't work I'll have to take it to the Apple Store as a last result.

Any ideas?

For this please check your iPhone settings. Make sure you have enable the permission for Siri to work with the apps on your phone. If that doesn't work then please contact Apple support centre for further clearance.
