Hello.

I was using ChatGPT for a while as a “test drive” account, with a random temporary email. I made the mistake to subscribe to GPT Plus from within the iOS app, using my AppleID (now Apple Account), thinking that it was independent from the OpenAI account. The subscription ended many months ago, and I never renewed it.

This past week, I decided to delete this “temporary account” and create a good one with my email address. And yesterday I subscribed to the new Go tier, thinking it would apply to my current account. Wrong. It charged me, I have the subscription active, but on my ChatGPT app, it says it has been applied to a previous account (which it doesn’t exist anymore) and to sign-in to that one instead.

I contacted support and I received what it seemed like a pre-written reply, saying my only solutions are, either paying for it from the website or creating a new Apple Account.

If any of you have been on this situation, I have a couple of questions:

• If I purchase the subscription from the website using ApplePay, will it work? Will they keep the Apple Pay identifier forever (I’ve read many cases where users cannot delete their payment method)?

• If I change the email of my AppleID Account, will OpenAI still associate my account to my now deleted account? Do you know of any possible fix to be able to subscribe from within the iPhone again without creating a whole new Apple Account from scratch?

Thank you.
