Unable to sync calendar events between Mac and iPhone

Hello, there was no syncing problem in the past but all of a sudden, even I added new appointments to the stock Calendar app on my Mac, they don't get synced automatically to the calendar apps on my iPhone. Anybody knows how to fix this problem? Both devices are connected to the same iCloud account. thanks.
