iPod touch Unable to sync old notes saved under iOS 3 to Google Mail

Just upgraded from iOS 3 to iOS 4 yesterday, and enabled over-the-air Notes syncing into Google Mail. While new notes saved under iOS 4 synced perfectly, all notes saved under iOS 3 before the upgrade failed to sync with Gmail.

Is there any solution to this other than manually e-mailing over 100 copies of notes saved under iOS 3...?

Currently on iTunes 10.
