I'm trying to setup my partner's new iPhone 15, unlocked purchased outright from Apple.

She is coming from an iPhone XR with a physical Verizon SIM. I've transfered everything else via iCloud backup on the new iPhone 15, which was updated to 17.0.2 during initialization. But I'm unable to transfer the number from her iPhone XR, which latest version is 17.0.1. When I try to initiate the transfer, the iPhone 15 says the XR needs to be updated to the latest version, however 17.0.1 IS the latest version available for the XR (17.0.2 is only for the new iPhone 15s). So am I stuck having to find alternative means?

Update: please disregard, i wound up having to get her verizon account credentials through her parents (yes, grown woman still on her parent's plan!) and going through the online steps of activating an esim.
