Unbelievable battery life on a S3 LTE

Since getting my S3 I’ve been charging nightly, as I did with my S0. That would not manage 2 full days on.

But I’ve noticed that it’s still got a good 60-70% life left.

So on Sunday at 5:45am I’ve taken it off charge and with normal use it it’s still on my wrist and still had 5% left at 1:00am Wednesday. And now it’s gone into power saving mode but it’s still going (now 2:20)

So from now on will be going a few days between changes.

Anyone else find great battery life with their S3??

I’m surprised at the battery life of my s3 LTE as well. Usually use the watch on LTE for about 40 minutes a day. This includes doing an outdoor workout and running some errands. I don’t take many calls, mostly notifications and texts. By the end of the day I’m usually around 60%-70% battery.

I will add that doing frequent deep discharges of the battery will eventually impact its performance. By how much is debatable, but I personally prefer to charge it over night rather than wait a few days.

WatchOS 4 absolutely destroyed the battery life of my original S0 watch, some days not even making it to bed time.

The S3 LTE, however, gets to my bed time when I take it off with 75% left! 7am to 11:30 pm.

I could go 48 hrs without even thinking twice about it. Crazy.

Tomorrow my baby arrives - my S0 is on its way to his new owner - I can’t wait to try out the sleep tracking functions

I didn't even upgrade my first generation Apple Watch to watchOS 4. I genuinely wanted to wait to see what other reports were, and it's been abysmal. It's unfortunate, but this is likely the last lifespan for the first generation Apple Watch moving forward with watchOS.

Yeah I’m really impressed with the battery life on the S3 vs my S0. Also the much faster cpu and waterproofing are definitely welcome upgrades. Be careful on LTE because the watch battery gets roasted.

Safe to say that a 2 year life cycle for these watches is about right? So I can expect my S3 to last at least 2 years or more maybe. Like Relentless Power - sometime in 2019 I'll probably look at reports before upgrading.

I get Apple care with my watches and get new watch after Apple care expires. Had S0 now S3. Will consider updating in two more yrs at the earliest no matter what features the next generation contains. Actually, S3 does everything I could conceivably want right now.

My S0 still got me through the day. I expected the S3 to be about the same as my S0 a year ago, but it seems better.

I put my watch on a 10am and helped take down decorations. I left at 1:45pm for an outdoor walk and came back at 2:30pm. I put my watch on the charger as I went to get a shower and it had 96%.

Is there support for the idea that the LTE version has better battery life than the non-LTE (assuming the LTE isn’t used)? That, plus the double storage capacity, would make it worth it to me, even if I never turn on LTE, which I probably won’t.

Update.

So I put the watch back on at 3. Took it off at 12:15am. Used it for casual notifications and such. Took the band off to Evan and did a speed test between my S0 and S3 which I guess is like a mini stress test.

I put it in the charger and it was at 89%. I’m very pleased.

The series three Is my first Apple Watch but I've been super impressed with the battery life. I wasn't expecting much because I had always heard and read the battery life wasn't the best, but personally my experience has been much different.

Really doesn't make sense to have such a drastic difference in battery life when in reality the S3 LTE actually is more demanding of the battery than the S0.

How so? Chipset is more efficient. LTE only turns itself on when necessary.

LTE on the S0 turns itself on never lol. Getting a full day, I mean 12 hours, out of the S0 would be a miracle for me at this point. Under the same usage it sounds like I'd get almost 2+ days from the S3. That's an extreme drop in battery life.

Charge for an hour every other day, can get three days out of it but I don’t push it past two now days.

I got always get AppleCare. On my S0, I called in for battery life issues shortly before expiration of the Warranty and ended up with a fully refurbished unit.
I have an LTE now. Great battery life, but will do the same in two years.
BTW, battery life does wear down fairly rapidly, when you stream music to your AirPods from the watch.
