Unblock filter?

I have a hand-me-down Macbook from a friend, and it has a pornography filter, which I love. Unfortunately, it blocks anything and everything that even remotely sounds like it could be questionable, including pages with shopping "checkout" buttons. I don't want to disable the whole program, but I was wondering if there is a way to override the filter by page?

How is that filter called? Is it an extra application or plug-in to what browser?
Is it Parental Controls in System Preferences?

With most ad-blocking apps, there is a way to add exceptions. It depends on which app you have.
