Uncompress tar, 7za & rar files

I an thinking of downloading GUI Tar 1.2.3 :-

I just wondered if anyone had any issues with the software as I am new to using compressed files?

while i haven't used that application, i use The Unarchiver, it uncompresses a lot of file types, including tar and rar, but i don't think it does the other two you said, but it also does 7z

Thanks Macmaniac, I didn't realise that I could obtain that sort of software from Apple.

Yep I would definitely advocate using The Unarchiver, it can handle about any archive you throw at it. There is also unRARX if you specifically need to do .rar files.
