Undeletable files?

My roomie has a little problem - there's a file on her desktop that can't be deleted. She can't even put it in the trash - she receives a message that says the file is in use - any ideas on how to delete it?

Open Terminal, then type

cd desktop
sudo rm filename

Hopefully that'll do it.
