Today I made the biggest mistake to date

I got the external hard drive I have all my work files on mixed up with a little jump drive, went into the disc utility and erased it. Please some one help me! Is there a way to get it all back with out having to take it somewhere expensive!

So long as you haven't been doing anything that would write to the drive the chances of recovery are actually fairly good. I once deleted a partition and the recovery was as simple as rebuilding the partition map.

I *think* i used testdisk which is command line stuff. I was also using ubuntu, but there is a darwinport version of testdisk.
