Under normal circumstances when if at all would I need my Mac OS X DVD?
Coming from the Windows world there are instances in doing maintenance where the OS CD/DVD would be needed.
Are there times other than re-installing the OS would I need to use the OS DVD?
I am only asking so I can acquire more knowledge.

Thank you for looking.

If you need to reinstall/reformat, of course, but other than that, you basically won't need it unless you forget your system password, or need to run a hardware test for troubleshooting purposes.

Thank you for all your responses.

I hope I will not need disk repair (for awhile anyway) or forget my password :).

Muhahahahaha! Muhahahahahaha! Muhahahahaha!

....sorry.

Now if you are talking in terms of the system restore disc that came with your Mac then you would need it to reinstall iLife if you were to accidentally delete iPhoto, iMovie and the rest and printer drivers if your printer is not connecting with your Mac.
