Anyone figured out how to undervolt an i5/7 MBP? All the previous threads on the subject only refer to C2D macbook pro's. Coolbook software only works with C2D for now.

Please avoid discussion on why/why not to undervolt and focus on HOW to undervolt a core i5/7 MBP.

Thanks!

So I e-mailed the guy who makes Coolbook asking him if he will release a version for the new Intel Core i-series CPU macbooks, and here is the response:

Yes, the "i CPUs" cannot be undervolted.
I will release a version later giving the ability to choose which frequencies to use.

So it appears that Apple may be hiding voltage settings in the OSX kernel so developers are having a problem setting those.

He will have a version to control the CPU speed however.

Apple is hiding the info? Don't you mean Intel? Don't make me state the obvious pun here.

From my understanding and various forum posts, you can easily vary the voltage in Bootcamp with Windows and RMClock. But the Coolbook author claims the handles for varying voltage are not trivially exposed in OSX.

Perhaps there will be another workaround to get it working on OSX. Might just take a bit more work.
