When an iPhone is reported stolen AT&T network will send out a signal, and as soon as stolen iPhone receives it, it will lock up as well as report the area it was used last.
Will be announced sometime this weekend.

Yes, but this will shut off every feature the iPhone has. Not just the radio.

There's a radio? Now that's an unannounced feature. :p

Still, I would hope that this is how it would work. It would discourage a lot of theft (although we still have to protect our little regular iPods :( ).

Yes. Every cell phone has an RF signal, some refer to it as a radio.
But yeah, this thing won't be worth stealing with that feature.
I'm sure we'll all start to see the hacks in a few days.

Here's one someone smarter than me should attempt:

Create a hack that lets iPhone work with existing account WITHOUT having to go through the activation process in iTunes and extend contract. So the result will still be a working iPhone with wifi, ipod, and widget capability with no cell service.
Or...make the phone portion of the phone use Skype.

What? Yea that would be awesome, but i am willing to bet it never EVER happens...
