I’ve been experiencing unexplained, excessive battery drain on my iOS devices. It started about a month ago on an old original SE that I set up as a new phone. As soon as I added my iCloud account to it, the battery life went to hell. It started always feeling warm to the touch even when idle, and the battery would drain 5x as fast at 2-3% per hour.
Having switched back to my Xs, it’s now doing the same thing. The phone feels warm just below the camera module where I am assuming the SoC is, and the battery drains much faster than it should be.
And finally, yesterday it came for my Apple Watch. It went from lasting two days of use with leaving it on overnight, to being at 50% right now (3:00 pm) after taking it off the charger at 8:30 am. Literally nothing about my use has changed. The only holdout is my iPad.
No apps show any extra usage in the settings apps on any device. None of the standard steps of restarting, updating, restoring have had any effect. The battery health on all devices is at least 90%.
I’m actually going out of my mind. it feels like this is some kind of iOS malware or maybe corrupted iCloud data that it’s constantly trying to process. I know Apple with be no help as all they know what to do is to you to update, as if that has ever solved an iPhone problem. Please help!
