Well this has happened to me three times now.

The MBP is a unibody 2.4/4GB/250. I have been running on the 9400M all this time in Mac OS.

For no apparent reason (there is nothing in the logs) she locks up with screen/sound corruption. Only a hard reset gets her back.

Its happened twice while watching movies and once doing nothing (only the standard screen saver was active).

She isnt hot when crashing (and like I say was running the 9400M).

I have now switched to the 9600M to see if the problem happens again (about 24-48hrs between incidents or more).

Has anyone else experienced this?

There seems to be a lot of people reporting similar lock ups with 4GB ram, but not with 2GB, whether official apple ram or otherwise sourced.

I've had mine lockup once, so far in the month or two I've had it.. it seems like something they might need to release a firmware update to fix.

I don't think anyones identified an exact reason or pattern yet, or why it happens more to some than others.

I agree with this. I've not had one single lock up ever on my unibody that wasn't BSOD in games. Running stock 4GB

Just curious, do you have Minefield running when this is happening?

Whatever the problem is, it does not seem to be common. My MBP has 4GB RAM and this has never happened. Actually I have had two MBPs with 4GB RAM (one with 4GB stock RAM, the other with RAM I added) and this problem never occurred with either machine. I would call Apple.

It happened to me yesterday and today. Also 1 kernel panic.

I was using the 9600 in two ocasions, and the 9400 during the kernel panic.

I was only watching a video stream on Firefox, should I blame FF or flash videos?!
