Hey all,

Ever since the last firmware update for the macbookpro, computer sounds like a pc laptop! Before hand, my mbp ran silent as can be, after the update, i heard a pretty big difference. Now, it's just getting out of control. As i sit here and type this, my mbp is sitting on a regular work desk, plenty of open ventilation, with only firefox, mail and adium running.

I have reset pretty much everything google told me, when i looked up this topic. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could do, which won't result in seeing a genius??

Thanks

I'm no expert but when you say sounds like a PC, do you mean because the fans are running higher? I'm sure Apple must have done it for a reason? Anyway, you could use something like smcFanControl to manually lower it which would make it quieter? It would also make it hotter too but it's up to you

I meant a PC, by how loud it runs when it is idling (sorry bad attempt at humor)

yes, I have rebooted several times (this started a few months ago when the firmware update first came out,) it wasn't as bad, but now it's progressed much, and is very discomforting.
