I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but apparently some MacBooks can run 8GB of RAM.

appleserialnumberinfo.com describes mine as:
Model: - MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) (CTO)
Codename: - "M97"
Build Country: - Your Mac was built in Changhai, China.
Build Year: - Your Mac was built in 2009.
Build Week - Your Mac was built in week 2 of that year (January).
Production Nr.: - Your Mac was number 1098 to be built that week.

My employer purchased 8GB of Lenovo brand memory for my MB and it's running fine. I tried VMWare to test out all 8GB and my system was still stable. Activity Monitor reported 7.5GB of memory used.

All the information I could find about my machine specified 6GB as the maximum, but I figured I'd try 8 since I wasn't paying.

Its been reported that sometimes 8GB works and sometimes it doesn't. Basically, people have said that it COULD work in your machine but there are no guarantees so don't waste your money. Glad it worked out for you!!
