I've been having this problem for a little while, getting artefacts in different areas, all during scrolling. In the screenshot you'll see the worst of it in stacks, but it happens in Adium frequently when scrolling through a chat or contact list.

This was the beginning of the problem I had with my iMac right before it bit the dust. I'm afraid of it escalating, guys; I need some advice.

What model is your MBP? Does it have the 8600GT in it?

Unibody Macbook Pro with the dual graphic cards (9400M / 9600M). Problem occurs under the 9400, haven't tried with the 9600.

Two more examples. Not too hard to get them since it happens so frequently... just a matter of getting the right frame.

There's some problem that causes the flashies if Quartz GL is disabled. To enable it:

1. Install the Developer Tools. You can find them on your Leopard disk as "option install" stuff.
2. Open Quartz Debug. Spotlight is the easiest way to open it.
3. Go to Tools -> Enable Quartz GL.
4. Force quit Quartz Debug.

That's what I did, and Quartz GL has been enabled system-wide ever since. The menus don't flash anymore, and it stays this way even after restarting my computer.

Well as it says in the other thread, if you can see the problem in a screenshot it's not a hardware graphics failure. It's something in the software.

This is the main reason I have minimum 3rd party software installed. The chances for glitching triple when someone uses a lot of 3rd party hacks/software.

My only suggestion is try uninstalling the software?

If you don't mind me asking what icon set are you using and what are you using to display your currently playing song at the top of the screen? :D

Looks slick.
