I left my 3-month old Unibody MBP 17" (OSX 10.5.7; dual 9400/9600 cards) for two hours (energy saver set to: Display sleep after 5 mins, computer sleep after 15 mins, graphics for better battery life) and when I returned I found the display very dark. I can still see what goes on the display, the computer works fine. But it's too dark to work with, even in a dark room.

Adjusting brightness (through keyboard or Display panel) doesn't work, brightness remains lowest.
I tried: restarting; rebooting display; turning off "automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes"; switching to Graphics:higher performance in Energy Saver panel; started it in Target disk; reset PRAM; left it off for 30 mins to cool; calibrated through System Prefs. Nothing worked.

Didn't try hooking to an external monitor because I don't have a MiniDV adapter and live far from an Apple store (+ big deadline approaching....)
Any ideas? Thanks
